For What It's Worth: Muslims Against Terrorism
They call themselves the Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism. And they're serious--or they seem to be. Thus far (how typical!) the mainstream press hasn't noticed them, but Fox News Channel has. Multiple bloggers caught Bill O'Reilly's "Impact" interview with Kamal Nawash, the founder of the Coalition, back in August of this year. And now he's gathering signatures on an on-line petition to the UN to establish international tribunals to prosecute terrorists. (Hat Tip: Little Green Footballs.)
So why do I say, "For what it's worth"? Simply this:
So why do I say, "For what it's worth"? Simply this:
- The Koran definitely does promulgate terrorism as a legitimate instrument for the extension of the Muslim faith. The best you can say about this effort, therefore, is that a large number of Muslims recoil at the idea of actually taking that part of the Koran seriously. (The New Testament makes no such pronouncements as this. St. Paul repeatedly says that the war that Christians are called to fight is spiritual only, not fleshly. Then there's the verse about every soul making itself subject to the governing officials.)
- The United Nations is a sick joke, and it's getting sicker. Already we hear of "experts" saying that the UN has outlived its usefulness; they want to replace it with another federation of nations dedicated to rooting out terrorism. I happen to think that anything other than an ad hoc coalition smacks too much of a future Beast from the Sea [Revelation 13:1-4]. But this sentiment that the UN is a joke and ought to be replaced is quite telling.
- Most sadly of all, for every organization like the Free Muslim Coalition, I can find a dozen that activelly call Muslims to study their foundational documents and get with the holy-warrior program.
