Fighting back on immigration

Hat Tip: Joseph Farah of WorldNetDaily. The issue is immigration. In essence, Arizona passed an initiative in the last election requiring the State to enforce existing laws designed to curb illegal immigration--prevent them from registering to vote, keep them off the welfare rolls, etc.

The Foreign Ministry of Mexico issued this statement in protest. An excerpt:
The Mexican government regrets that the proposition passed and expresses its complete opposition to the measure, as it discriminates against individuals based on their ethnic profile and limits their access to basic health and education services. In addition, the Mexican government believes that the measure does not help to address the challenges presented by migration between Mexico and Arizona.
Coming from a country whose militiamen have already been caught crossing our border under arms, this is a very hypocritical statement, one right up there with the old Soviet charges of interference in their internal affairs. Add to it that Mexican police have also been escorting drug smugglers across our border, and even firing at US Border Patrolmen. And yes, Arizona has been the big hot spot, though neither Texas nor California has been immune.

It's about time--and way past time--for measures like Proposition 200. And as to the Mexicans: with friends and neighbors like these, who needs enemies?
